Dianne Taylor Moore » About the Artist

Rich, vivid, immediate: that's the reaction to the painting of New England artist Dianne Taylor Moore. Large multimedia canvases-most measuring 45"x 50" or bigger - are executed in deep, shimmering layers of oils, textiles, decorative papers, beads and varnish. The result is an exaggerated, larger-than-life reality that celebrates the miracles and mysteries of the natural world.

Whether it is a mountain at sunset, a trout swimming in a stream or a lizard in the hot desert, nature is the foundation of Dianne's work. She sees an affinity between the Southwestern Desert,  which she loves, the harsh winters of New England, where she lives, and the fields of Provence, NH and VT where she paints. The struggle for survival and the beauty found in every living thing infuse her work with and extraordinary energy. Dianne's canvases and pastels reveal multiple influences. She uses her own photographs as references and collage materials to add depth. Painting in Plein Air is an important part of her process. 

Working in France in 2009 brought about a career change. Pastel painting became a serious passion and took her outdoors to paint on site. "There is no substitute for seeing the colors first hand." Pastel provides the immediacy of color for the intense stokes she uses. by 2010 she began to be a national award winner.

Dianne attended Maryland School of Art, the Chicago Art Institute and the University of Illinois. She received her degree from the Portland School of Art. She continues to study around the country. 

Ms. Moore has exhibited in many nationally juried shows, and Museums. including the  Nightwalker Exhibition in Colorado,  the Celebration of Fine Arts, in Arizona, a one-person show at Dartmouth college and DMHC as well as New York exhibitions. Her animal portraits hang in both public and private collections throughout the United States and Canada. Ms. Moore has been the subject of a movie made for public broadcasting about New Hampshire artists. She has received many awards and commissions, Best in Show from the Women's Expression Invitational in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. 

Dianne Taylor Moore, a North Carolina native, travels extensively and now resides in Vermont.
